Transparent line-item pricing

You pay the doctor for clinical time, SAHPRA for the Section 21 application, and your chosen pharmacy for medication and delivery. Docto24 takes nothing in between.

Consultation options

Choose how you want to consult

Same HPCSA-registered doctor, same Section 21 pathway — different format. Standard is async text-based and fits most repeat patients. Premium adds a live video call, recommended if it is your first cannabis consultation or if the clinical picture is complex.

What each fee covers

Where the money goes

R500 — doctor consultation

Pays for the HPCSA-registered doctor’s clinical time: reviewing your structured questionnaire, conducting any video follow-up, deciding whether to prescribe, and preparing the Section 21 application paperwork. The fee is due whether or not you are approved — that is the doctor’s clinical time and judgement.

R400 per product — SAHPRA Section 21

The statutory SAHPRA application fee. Each prescribed product needs its own Section 21 authorisation, and each authorisation is valid for 6 months. If your doctor prescribes two products, you pay R400 × 2. SAHPRA — not Docto24 — sets this fee.

Pharmacy-set — medication & delivery

The dispensing pharmacy you choose sets product prices and delivery costs. You see the total before you confirm any order. You pay the pharmacy directly. Docto24 never holds medication, never invoices for medication, and never marks up product.

Refund policy

What happens if you’re not approved

Consultation fee (R500) is non-refundable once the doctor has reviewed your case. The fee covers clinical time and clinical judgement — including the judgement to decline. This is standard medical practice and required by professional ethics.

SAHPRA Section 21 fee (R400) is refunded if SAHPRA has not yet been billed at the time of decline. If the application has already been submitted to SAHPRA, the fee is non-refundable.

Medication is paid to the pharmacy only after Section 21 approval. If approval fails, no medication payment is taken.

Pricing FAQ

Common cost questions

  • Can I claim this on medical aid?
Consultations may be claimable under medical aid code 0130 depending on your scheme and plan. Section 21 fees and dispensed product are typically not covered by medical aid. Check directly with your provider before booking — every scheme handles this differently.
  • What does the full process cost?
R500 for the doctor consultation. R400 per product for each SAHPRA Section 21 application. Medication and delivery are priced by the dispensing pharmacy and shown before you confirm. There are no Docto24 subscription fees, monthly memberships, or platform mark-ups.
  • Can I get a repeat prescription?
Yes. A SAHPRA Section 21 authorisation is valid for 6 months from approval. Within that window, your chosen pharmacy can dispense monthly repeats against your prescription without requiring a new doctor consultation, subject to clinical check-ins.
