Named Patient Application (NPA)
A Section 21 application for a single, identified patient.
A Named Patient Application is the standard form of Section 21 authorisation: one patient, one product, one 6-month window. The applying doctor submits the patient’s clinical rationale to SAHPRA with a diagnosis (ICD-11 coded), treatment history showing failed or unsuitable first-line options, and proposed dosing. NPAs are the majority of Section 21 applications and are the default route for individual Docto24 cases.
